A Gallery of Ancestors

I remember another little story about the great company of spirits. One of my students named Iddy really wanted to get closer to more of his ancestors, including the ones from generations before. He decided to put his family pictures in frames—even the ones from the 1800s. He was lucky because both sides of his family had many photos. He also got some online from ancestry sites.

He hung those pictures all over the walls of his meditation room. And there were certainly a lot of people there! At first he would just sit and look at the pictures, but then he started inviting them forward in his meditations.

They came in droves, and he was so happy to know them. They also brought landcestors and other forerunners from even older generations and different places. He speaks with them often, and he’s delighted to meet whoever comes.

You can do something like this, too, only on a smaller scale. You could put some photos on a shelf or table near a chair where you meditate. But you really don’t have to have any photos at all—just your imagery. Let’s give it a try.
